The computational research team at Helion works with multiple plasma simulation codes to simulate and analyze Helion’s fusion machines and test beds. The goal of the simulation effort is to develop predictive computational capabilities derived from first principles, validated against experimental data across multiple FRC merging devices, to inform next-generation fusion machine design.

As a Plasma Diagnostics Intern you will work collaboratively to conceive, design, test, and deploy optical diagnostic components and systems that help us understand the performance of our fusion machines. Non-invasive optical probes are essential to our understanding of physical parameters in the core of our plasma and allow us to fine tune the operation of the machine to achieve fusion.

Helion’s Fuel Cycle Team is focused on recycling gas from the machine’s vacuum system, separating unspent fuel from fusion byproducts. As an intern, you will work on these separation systems, learning the technology and related systems (vacuum, cryogenics, etc.). Your tasks will include optimizing system parameters, designing experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and modifying the test setup.

As a Materials Engineering Intern, you'll assist in literature reviews to guide laboratory experiments and perform material characterization tests, including sample preparation, instrument operation, and data acquisition.

As a Helion Electrical Engineer, you will directly contribute to advancing fusion technology. In this role, you’ll design and fabricate both analog and digital electronic circuits, including op-amp, passive and active filter circuits, along with PCB design and validation.
